Venezuela Report - 10/18-10/20

Last Monday night I got a call from a buddy that he could not go on his trip to Venezuela on Wednesday! I had a day to make it happen and ultimately I pulled the trigger and took his spot for three days as a guest on the Prime Time! The rest of the crew were Curtis, Bob and Jack. Fishing was not on fire by Venezuelan standards but we had a blast!

Day one had a blue come up early but the crew was a little rusty and we missed him. As Capt. Butch said so subtly..."boys, that was pretty bad..."
We recovered pretty well and stuck the next three sails with one jumping off. Had a few other window shoppers but the two sails were all we caught that day.
Day two was very slow. We saw and caught one small sail, a cuda (expert drop back) and a few dolphin for dinner. No other shots.
Day three we caught a nice blue (Bob) at lines in and then a pair of whites mid-day (Bob and Jack). Hoped for a sail to get Bob a slam but no other fish were raised before lines out at 5:30. Then while pulling in the teasers at 5:35, one of those pesky blues showed up. Curtis fed him like a champ and put the heat on! Had the release 15 minutes later and cut the leader a little while after that. Capt. Butch was a blast to fish with and Poncho (mate) was top notch. The accommodations were nice and the beer cold. Thanks for the report. It was slow while we were there as well.

I also thought Poncho was top notch.

Getting better - Butch had a crew of one today. A good buddy of mine caught 5 blues and 2 sails yesterday. Haven't gotten the report on what they did today yet.
