    Default Key West recommendations

I'm headed South in a few weeks for my first time in Key West. Can anyone suggest some good charter companies?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Unfortunately a good friend of mine finally hung up his rods and headed to Tn. Larry Cohen's gone but I still remember some of the great trips we had. Trully one of the good guys, he wasnt your yupee style guide, kinda from the old school, have fun first. When I do my trips in SW Fl. I think of Larry. I'd recommend all guides try showing the client a good time above all else. I also learned that from my dad Capt John.
Quick story for the heck of it. I remember fishing with my own boat in KW harbor docked at Harborside Motel back in the mid 90s. Larry had his own boat usually booked up. One morning, both Larry and I was heading out for some tarpon action and there was another guide with a small 16 ft skiff ultra light. Larry said this guide was there for several months and never spoke to him. So just for fun he said go up to the guy and say hello. Well I did, he just picked up a client and the guy never even looked up and achnowledged me. Can you believe there are guides out there that wont even say hello. Well after the trip Larry and I were talking on the pier about a couple tarpon we hooked up on and then the client came over to talk to us. He said the guide didnt say 10 words to him the whole trip. Larry started talking to the guy and he became one of Larry's regular. Anyway the moral of the story is, try to find a guide that your comfortable with, hopefully someone's that got more then a 10 word vocabulary.
