Default Key West Fishing in January

Going to KW the first week in January. Got a couple of charters booked. Where can I fish with light tackle from the shore? On foot and bike, staying near Airport.
Any recomendations for bait, lures, locations. Don't want to spend ALL my time on Duval Street.

ive fished that cut before, theres always tarpon in it , but my dad and i have only hooked 3 in one night tops, theyre spooky. any DOA lure , like the shrimp, terroreyesor bait buster drifted along in the current at night works, and live shrimp drifted under a popping cork. go there in the day with some live or fresh dead bait and drift it along the bottom and catch a mixed bag of snappers, runners and maybe a reef fish or two. if you bring a heavy rod, dont be afraid to throw alive blue runner back out in the current for that big cuda that lives near the birdge, hes stolen plenty of snapper from me over the years.

i dont really know about any of those other places, ive just fished the channel the goes under the flemmon key bridge. if you are going to fish ANY of the bridges down there, scope them out on a low tide in the middle of the day , that way youll find where the deep water is .find deeper water find the fish
