    Default 12/11/07, 3rd Island CBBT

After getting bamboozled by trailer difficulties last Friday, I had to head out as soon as the problem had been diagnosed and fixed.

I left Lynnhaven in a heavy fog at 1pm with two buddies Hank and Patrick aboard. We had hoped to chase birds, but the fog refused to lift. Blind casting around the 3rd was unsuccessful, until we set up a drift over the tube and started pulling in 18-25'' rocks.

My buddies were amazed that we could mark fish, I would say "start stripping now" and bam fish on. Patrick is a trout fisherman from Colorado, he was loving it.

The fog never lifted, which made for a dark ride in.

Gear: Sage Xi2 7wt, Bauer JM3, with SA Full sink Striped Bass line.
Sage Xi2 8wt, Bauer M5, with SA Intermediate line.

Flies: 4/0 White and White and blue, half and halfs, self tyed

dying to get out again and figure out how to find the bigger boys on fly.

It's always great when you can get a trout guy connected to a striper.

Good job on the pullage. Big fish tend to be deep in during the daylight. I like T-14 shooting line set ups and heavy 550-650 grain lines. That M5 seems a bit heavy for a 8wt. Xi2. Most of my Xi2 8's have M3's on them and my 10's have M5's or MX5's. Will be out on Friday and hope to find some moes.
