Thumbs up Tidalfish team-up at CBBT

I posted recently asking if anyone was interested in joining me at the CBBT. Jess (piledriver) was able to join me last Friday (Dec. 14th).

We launched from Kiptopeke around 7:30 AM and fished until about 8:30 PM. Yes, we stayed out for morning, noon and night. The fishing was best in the morning and then again in the afternoon. After dark the fishing got good again with lots of small fish lined up fin-to-fin along the light lines at the shoals.

We each caught a lot of fish, probably around 25 apiece. Small gray over white clousers on a 250 grain sink tip worked well in the morning. Then in the afternoon, a chartreuse over white half and half on an intermediate line took many nice fish along the pilings (and the clouser did nothing). We also took quite a few fish on white or gray fleck BKDs with on spinning gear.

My butt was completely kicked after 13 hours of fishing. It was a "good" tired, though.

Thanks to Wayne and Chris for responding to my post. Hopefully, I can fish with them another time.

    Here are two pictures:

Yes, my boat is a Jones Brothers 18 with light blue hull sides and a black boot stripe. Was that you in the Jones Brothers 23 with a green hull?

It was a great day to be on the water!

The green hull JB was probably Chris Dollar, editor of The Fisherman mag. I've got a Plain Jane 23'.

DJ - My dad & I were with Chris Dollar last Friday in his Jones Brothers (sweet boat). I remember passing you guys a few times in between the bridges. Glad you guys had a good day. Dollar put us on a boat load of fish. Best "rock" fishing I've ever had! I'm new to rock fishing with a fly rod, but I had some good professional and patient instruction from Dollar who really gave a lot of extra effort to get a rock on the end of my fly line. Great day on the water! Can't wait to get out there again.

It was a truly great day on the Bay, thanks to Matt's generosity. We were blessed with a day window of incredible december weather and made the most of it. For someone that considers himself a newbie to the bay Matt was great at putting us on the fish throughout most of the day. It was also comforting to fish aboard a boat where the captain stressed safety and kept a tight organized boat. Teaming up with someone who wanted to put time and effort into finding fish on the fly added to the experience. All of the flies I caught my fish on were tied by myself, copying the half and halfs tied by Wild Bill on his big ocean fish adventure, with some small adjustments.

Thanks for sending the pics Matt.

We were out there too on Friday (21" Hydra Sport) and managed to catch a few on an OMC fly.

    Excellent day!
