Unhappy Wallace's goin out of biz

I wanted to spread this sad news to those of you who have not used this ramp lately. Of course the ramp is still open, but unfortunately the owners of Wallace's must sell. If you plan on putting out there in the spring and rely on the shop for bait and such, make sure someone else has bought the place before you head to the ramp. I for one think it is a damn shame to lose fine people like the ones who owned the shop from our fishing community. It has been a pleasure doing business with them all these years. Thank you and good luck in your next venture.....we're gonna miss you guys.

Last I saw vanesses was still open, haven't heard any different. As for wallaces, they have changed hands a couple of times in the past couple of years so it is not still the same people from years ago. Agreed the store will be a loss for all though.

How many "years" have the new owners been running wallaces?

I think Dottie had it for the last two years or so, or atoleast that is as long as I have been on the water there. She has always been good to me and I am sad to see them close. Heard the place is up for lease.

Dang Reel Hard..........I guess it was only two if Rock Crusher is right. I thought it was kinda all in the family deal even with different owners. I've been putting boats in there off and on for 20yrs. I guess I need to pay closer attention so the board "lawyers" don't pick my posts apart. I knew there was a reason I didn't post much. I just hate to see em go.....they are good people who can no longer afford to run the store.

Vannesse fixed one of my rods earlier this fall. I think he's stayin open.

Actually, Harry Johnson owns a good part, if not all of it--and has for the last few years. I believe that Donnie Wallace still owns the other portion. Rumor has it that Harry/Donnie may turn 1/2 of the shop into an office for Tidewater Dockmasters and run, or have someone run, the other half as a bait shop and gas dock. Only time will tell!

Hi this is Mike from Wallace's and I wanted to thank you all for all the kind words... It has been a total pleasure serving you guys in the two years that my sister Dottie has owned the place... Most of what you guys have said was right... She is sad to have to leave but no money was made this year and last year was a awesome year and she barely made enough to keep things going... Gas, Weather, and Fishing Restrictions have killed the business... She gave her all as did I and I thank you all for the good laughs and the great times we have shared... Wallace's will be here in some form or another I think the post above me Had the most accurate information of what is going on... But anyway thank you all and Please take what dforehand said to heart... SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHOPS!! They need you as much as you need them... See you on the water! -Mike
