I'd call St. Croix and explain what happened. My guess is that they will hook you up for a nominal fee. Despite the posts to the contrary in the past, I think they take care of their customers. Let the board know how you make out.
Last CBBT trip I was too hard on the rod. Wind and waves were running diagonal to the tide and dummy me put the boat in reverse to hold us close to the bridge pilings. My line got sucked into the prop and before I could react and get it into neutral, the tip was pulled down to the prop and shattered.![]()

What is the best way to get this rod fixed? It is not under warranty, and it was my fault. I'm hoping that the fact that I own three St. Croix fly rods, and an even dozen St. Croix LTJing rods, will ingratiate me somehow.![]()

PM Cory Routh at TKAA. He is working one night a week at Crab Creek Outfitters. I think Tues night. Anyway, he was or is currently sponsored by St. Croix and he also fly fishes. I'm sure He could get you pointed in the right direction. My experience with most fly rod companies is that they would love to keep customers. I'm sure a tip replacement would be a nominal charge. I thought St. Croix had a lifetime warranty???

Call 1-800-826-7042 or 715-762-3226 which is the St. Croix factory numbers and ask for rod repair.
PC...we've all done it... I have done a few tips in doors and trunks myself... and a few actually fishing... The major manufacturers will resolve the issue for a small charge. I had Sage replace the top section of a rod that was homemade.... They gave me the choice of having one already finished or just provide another blank... I am quite sure that St Croix will do the same...
One word of warning though... send that baby by UPS or INSURE IT thru USPS... I send a jigging rod back to them and the package arrived crushed. luckily I took out insurance and USPS ended up covering the $$ after a bit of a hassle there. (But they ended up doing the right thing...)
Good Luck
Thanks for all the replies. I'll call them and see what I can work out.

I am still a pro-staffer. What rod model is it, all St. croix fly rods except the Triumph models are covered. Please PM me for some guidelines before you call them.
Based on guidance I got at the Timonium Fishing Show, I got on their web site and printed out a FedEx label. Sent them the rod and it is now back with a new tip section.
Great Service!!!
Thanks for all who helped...especially the pro/dealer at Timonium.
