    Default Radar Mount Question

I have wanted to install radar for a few years ,
Went to the show this weekend and got one hell of a deal on a new
gps, sonar and radar unit so I bit the bullet and got it .
Garnin 4208 with all the goodies
My question is the dome , I have seen some mounted right on the top and some
    mounted on a pedistal .
What is the reasoning behind this ????
I have a 25 ft CC with a t top . the top is heavy enough to handle it with no problems
    the cover is canvas
    Any ideas
    Thanks

Remember is that radar is line of sight. A pedestal will get the dome above any obstructions on your top (gps, etc). Think of it like this, if your radar was obstructed by something as small as a gps antenna, it would create a huge blind spot at 3 miles. Some pedestals also provide a wedge that levels your dome.
