    Unhappy Big lost last night

As Nicbuck said ,I lost the biggest one yet last night,MY Dad,Zane Grey Davis SR..Thanks Nicbuc and for all the other prayers.
We were close and he was the best of dads.He got me into hunting at 8 and I started carrying a 12 gauge over and under at 10 and killed my first doe that year on Xmas eve he jumped for me yelling HERE HE COMES ,HERE HE COMES,POW I got her:Now this year with the biggest yet 13pt I posted a pic of.
He got me into saltwater fishing in 1990 when he bought a 24' Grady White and named it "MY THREE SONS",{I have two brothers},now I have the Fountain.
He had not been doing good since a operation for lung canser last Jan.
He lived a good life up to 79 years young. He would had been married 56 years Feb.2.I talked to him several times a day and knew this day was coming, but it's been one long 24 hrs.He passed with us holding his hand last night at 10:40.
He's in a better place now and thanks again for the prayers for me any my family.
Dang it's hard writing this,my key boards all wet.

Sounds to me like you had a wonderful pop. God bless you, him and your family. You will always have those memories which are a form of his energy living in you.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my dad to lung cancer about 2 years back. Its good that you were there with him at the end. Im sure it was a comfort to him to have his family around him when his time came. Again, sorry for your loss.

    Default Nice memories Jeff.

Hang on to them forever. Lost my Dad 20 years ago. Caught my first croaker with him and my first flounder under the old Lesner bridge. He wasn't a great outdoorsman but he did enough to get me started in the right direction.

Rest in peace Mr. Davis. Sounds like you raised a fine son.

    Jeff,
Sorry about your dad. I lost mine 8 years ago. He was my best friend also. The pain of losing a loved one never goes away....just gets a little easier to deal with as time passes. Cherish the memories.
May God comfort you and your family during this time.

you've made me think about an " old man " walking up a mountain in N.H. 3 plus miles, by the end he had his pack, another pack, a rubber raft & 2 fly rods and he'd keep looking back over his shoulder & tell me to hurry up. you will never forget. my heart to you & yours.
