Give Ken Ryznar a call at 410 708 1300. He is located in Rock Hall and makes portable electric ( 12 volt ) winders for about $600 .

SSS - I think those are the ones made from a GM Wiper motor. Find for rec use but it will not pull the boat along like a 1/2 or 3/4hp model. You have to pull it "slack"
They are not hard to build. I built one on a box. Been working fine for the past 3 years. I have about $400 in materials off Ebay and Millers Island.

    3/4hp motor - $125
    Gear Box - $60
    Sheaves - $70
    Knife - $30
    Hub - $30
    6ga wire - $20
    Battery switch - $25
Misc wood and hardware - $50

    Labor - Priceless!

SSS- It will not pull you down the line. Just drive down the line. Also it will not work on any line under 1/4. I used it 5 days a week all summer and the only problem I had was the pole switch. If you order it tell him you want a waterproof switch. If not they are only $10 and simple to replace.

SSS- I got your PM and would build you a winder but I have 4 to build right now. Also the guys I'm building for are just now getting a bunch of the parts...which the price has increased a bit. Hubs are now $45. Knives are now $45. Sheeves are $75 for epoxy and $175 for Stainless.

Plus they just changed the hub inner shaft size to 1.25" and I have everything set up for 1" and an trying to locate adapter sleeves now.

On a side note - my winder pulls in 1200' in about 8 minutes. I think the winder trout is speaking of pulls at about the same rate.
