    Default Trailer Brake ?

A friend of mine is considering swapping trailers, same manufacturer. He trailers a 25' Angler with a 1-1/2' pulpit. The current trailer is dual axle, galvanized and has rollers and drum brakes. The new trailer will of course be dual axle, galvanized and is set up with bunks and vented disc brakes. The question is there a problem with warping the rotors if they are still hot when they go in the water?

I know there is alot of knowledge on this board from many experienced fisher-person's, so any light you can shed on the subject is appreciated. Thanks.

just my but theres no way the rotor will ever be so hot you need to worry about warping them in water at the boat ramp........

Unless you tow the boat with a stuck caliper and live in BFE someplace and been dragging it for miles & miles.....just my opinion but he should never evar have that as a concern tho.

    Exclamation Trailer Brakes

There is usually no problem with either, unless something is wrong or you just recently used the brakes too much. I definitely prefer bunks and disc brakes.

I always make a point of getting my boat ready while it is parked somewhere near the ramp, so the brakes can cool down. In addition before I back it down the ramp I like to put my hand near the rotor or drum to make sure there isn't any excessive heat before I back in just in case.

Jamie hit the nail on the head. Ive owned both and the disc work great and are easier to care for. I have Kodiacs on mine and Im pullin about 6000 lbs give or take. Flawless operation so far. The trailer is Aluminiun I beam bunk.
