Just back from Casa Blanca/Casa Rotunda via Cozumel-pricey but lots of fish. May not be a help but if it is e-mail me @ seafoxent@earthlink.net.
We'll be heading down to Xpu Ha in early March. Mid way between Playa del Carmen and Bahia Ascencion. Will the permit or bones be available at that time of year? Does anyone have any experiences/advice in the area? Any guides out of Xpu Ha?
Thanks in advance.

Check the New Page 1 board and ask the same question, or just search for that question. Cozumel has some flats in the northern part of the island. I hit it earlier this year on a one day trip and did very well. WE went with a guy who is in business with his son and both are very good. The fishing was not spectaculat for October. A few bone fish caught while wading but you needed a boat to get to the flats. The fish were few are far between and were very difficult to stalk. But rewarding.
I would like to try for a permit. Bonefish have not sparked my interest yet. The reports I have read say Feb/Mar are excellent for Permits in the area. Any "gringo" guides I should look for to take me to Ascencion?
