Thanks for the information Richard. Looking to try for a few stripers this weekend in the Chowan River. Always nice when a fellow angler is willing to share fishing tips especially when gas prices are as high as they are.
Thursady and Friday the bite slowed some with the falling water levels. But on Sat. the water came in and they bunched up again. You need to fish later in the day as spawning takes priority when the temps start to warm. The bite is better after lunch when the sexual activities slow and males seek out fresh females still full of row.About half the females are done in Indiantown so it will give way to the white perch soon and the croppies almost simultaneuosly.Northern Currituck rivers seem to be behind Indiantown by three weeks or so at the peek of the spawn. So you may want to shift your efforts after this week to Northwest river,Moyock crreek,Tulls Creek, or North Landing river area.Try some night crawlers on the bottom on the edge of channel drop offs as white perch will be staging for the spawn.Catfish will be fat and sassy if you find them and will probaly be further up the creeks as the rain has just started to increase and the sound is still really salty.
hope this helps you

Can you guys tell me how long the stripers will stay in the Chowan ? I've got some
time off in March and would like to travel down.I bass fish alot in May up around Cannon's
Ferry ramp. Never have been able to make it during March.I know weather plays a big
part in the bass spawn but do any of you guys fish the river in early to mid March ?
