I just use the regular vertical rod holders mounted on my console. 10 of them. The hold the rods securely, but they do notch the edge of the cork grips on the rods. Not a functional issue though.

    Default Fly rod Holders

Every boat seems to have different "opportunities" for rod holders.

I have a bungee configuration on my T Top that works great... (and is cheap) Two quality rubber bungees in the back to support the reel and back of the rod. (reel fits between tightly stretched bungees) One in the front on the T Top to hold the tip. So far I haven't lopped off the tip with a spinning rod cast...but it will no doubt happen at some point.

Chris Newsome has a nice configuration on the back of his leaning post. He mounted a PVC pipe that fits in his rod holders on a set of I FLY holders... Nice quick access to the flyrods. I like this way much better...

    Good Luck...

PVC pipe can be used. Here are some pics of the fly rod holders I made for my 23 SE.

    I also use I-Flys.

Bill: I always liked how you made the customs from PVC and that you put the extensions to protect tips.

Anyone using factory equipped holes equipped on some boats to hold flyrods should seriously consider bolstering them with piping. I have seen a few flyrods broken both by the bumping of the boat and removing the rod from the "in gunnel" holders. The versions shown by Bill are FAR better solutions depending on what is available on the particular boat.

Are the I-Fly rod holders available in the Richmond area. Mailorder?

    Thanks
