    Default Favorite Rockfish Trolling Spread?

Just wanted to hear from fellow TFers on what they pull for Rockfish. Mine usually consists of 5-7 lines depending on sea conditions. 2 mojos of varying size with parachute trailers right behind the boat. Then I run two umbrellas off of gunnel rod riggers to spread things out. Off the center rod holder in the leaning post I run an tandem parachute rig with 6oz to 8oz of inline trolling sinker in front. This will position this rig behind and above the two mojos and between and below the umbrellas. Finally I run two tandem parachute rigs off of my t-top launchers which lay out to the side. I use 7 1/2 ft rods on these rigs to spread them even further. These rigs are in the "way back" position and usually run 10'-20' deep depending on the weight of parachute. I usually try to split the color of my rigs between white and chartreuse and let the fish tell me what they want...yesterday it was white. I will vary the sizes of my mojos and parachute lures according to water depth and sea conditions in order to cover the water column.

I run 2 spreader bars, 5 witch and ballyhoo combo and 2 naked ballyhoo and when things get ruff I'll put the D.O.A. (death from above) above out. Oh yeah damn this for offshore not rockfish

    Default My spread...

I start by running a double hung umbrella... pardon me ladies... with two parachutes 200' to 250' from my center rod holder behind my motor. That stays away from everything. A 32 oz heavy mojo 3 way with 6" bunker storm or spreader bar plus 2 storms in one corner. A 24 oz lighter mojo 3 way with tomic or bunker spoon in the other corner. Side riggers have stretch 25's, usually chartreuse and a red head 100' behind. If the Fishin gets tough I pull out a downrigger, take away one of my mojos and put on an double hung umbrella rig 50' behind at exactly any depth I see fish at on the sounder. That rig will out fish anything in the boat. Adjustments will be made to color depending on what is caught. Just because you are catching fish on one lure doesn't mean you should frantically run to the back of the boat and switch all lines to the same lure. Do that and you will have the biggest tangle nightmare you have ever seen...

Bobbin Bob Reed should me this for the first time years ago. Populate your umbrella rig with shad bodies. Leave two of the outside arms with snaps free. Pick the arms at 9 & 3 o'clock or 12 & 6 o'clock for balance. Tie your parachutes 2.5 to 3 feet behind on the free arms.

    Good luck,
