where is a good place to start in fishing a couple of days in N.C. My son and I would like to come down around easter and fish offshore.We fish Ocean city Maryland in the summer on our prokat.The wife is going to the carribean with my daughter and we want to do something because were jealous. What can we fish for at that time of year .Are the bluefin still there? Do the charters still have make ups this time of year also?Any help will be appreciated.

Yes you can sign up for a makeup charter in March, When you get to the beach go to Oregon Inlet and tell them what day or days you can go and they will do their best to get you and your son out for a day offshore. You can also call them @252-441-6301 As for the fishing, you can expect yellowfin for the most part, but you could catch other speicies

There are also several headboats that will take you out if you can't find make-up charters. A few run weekday trips limited to about 12 anglers and those target the bigger pelagic species.

Be careful of what you see what will be caught in March. YFT have not been being caught early like last few years. Watch the reports and see if they are getting them there in OI or in Hatteras. The stripers are biting up this way in VB and are BIG like we had Thursday!
