Pretty Work. That's good news on the greys!

After several good trips to the hot ditch, Capt. Ben and i decided to head out again. This time we were suprised because we working over large grey trout. They were 20-25 inches and man did they fight, they put specks to shame. We also caught 20 or so specks, mostly small with a few medium fish(18-22 inches) mixed in, a couple shad and some stripers. Not bad for 2 1/2 hours of fishing.![]()

Now thats a nice catch ! I saw a nice grey on a guys stringer the other day , same bait as the specks ?
outstanding... those are the biggest grays I've heard of in too long.
Congrats on a great day! That is awesome news...I hope when people get into them that they realize how fragile that fishery has become and keep only a few and C&R the rest.....
we released all of the fish and the greys were mixed right in with the specks hitting the same baits
Kudos to you, nothing wrong with keeping one or two.....but it is the hot ditch....LOL.....
I hope they move down to the HRBT soon. I would love to hook me some trout of any sort. Don't get to go to the ditch often. I remember catching 10lb greys of the jetties at the spit and 18-25in specs mixed in 12 years back. Those where the days.
I was fishing around the mmbt last spring out by theose old wood pilons( I want to say late april ) and a commercial crabber came up and asked me what I was catching and I said catfish , he was like huh ? I was catching blue cats upto 5-6lbs. and he told me they had been getting alot of big greys off the beach in the last week or two and there were alot around craney island. The bad part was he said he caught so many thats what he was baiting his pots with !?
Saw you go by the Marina the other day Rudy, solo, glad to hear you r catchin.
Awesome report
Brian
