I don't know if it still exists, there was a school at The Mariners Museum in Newport News VA. Jimmy Drewery was the instructor. Check their Web Site.

    Cool many thanks

after contacting many builders ....hoping for that entry level job and learn as I go.....the general consensus was industry is not red hot right now.....i spoke mostly to OBX builders who build the 60 plus battlewagons....I was surprised to find out how small the crew was to build such massive boats....so now i think the best way to go is to go a school where I can learn the skills and hopefully the economy will straighten out by the time I'm done. These programs by enlarge are not cheap and when i get out i'll be making 12-15 bucks an hour plus I'll have student loans and the money i borrowed for room and board....so I'm not so sure i want that monkey on my back....I'm on the fence about this one..thanks again to those who gave me some ideas to follow up on....let you know what i decide.....i am really surprised that in the State of MD there are no programs in boat building beyond the hobby level.
