Garmin chip or cd needed.
Well the title says it all. I got a chart plotter/ finder from a freind and he bought the chip but never used the unit and lost the chip. So I am looking to borrow/ buy/ rent a chip / cd.

Ted, I have a Garmin 176C that I got with my used boat. I just bought a Raymarine A60. I plan to use the Garmin as a backup. My question is how are you going to rent or borrow my chip? Steve

If you wanted to part with it I could buy it off you. OR I was told that once the information is uploaded the chip would not have to stay in the unit. I have NEVER used a chip before so I am only going on what I have heard.

At least with my CD, there was a one-time unlocking key to ensure that I wouldn't be able to do exactly what you're proposing. Not sure how the chips work.
