Default It WAS worth the trip! Shad report

Again thanks for the replies to the Worth making the trip post. Because of those replies, we made the trip from South Boston to Richmond yesterday and man was it worth it.
We caught over 200 shad. It was the best day I have ever experience doing that. I once went nine cast in a row with a shad. Caught 4 doubles myself on tandem darts. The action was fast and furious.
The key was a super fast retrieve. They were hitting it almost on top. You could watch them hit it or swirl at in on the way in. The fly was the same way. The bites would come a lot times right as your were going to pick it up out of the water to false cast. I watched other boats and they didnt do as well and from what I could tell they were working their presentations entirely too slow. They wanted you to burn it.

We got so tired from catching so many of them that we put on some sabiki rigs and caught about 40 or so herring and tried the blue cats and stripers out. It was hot and the sun was high so we didnt expect much. Did manage around 20 or so small blue cats up to 15 lbs.

Before we left we had to go back and try the shad one more time. It was around 4 pm by then. Went right back up where we were and wham both of us had one on our first cast. We caught ten more each in just a few minutes and put the boat on the trailor for the trip home.

By far the fastest fishing action I have ever experienced and I fish 2-3 days a week all year long.

Hopefully get back up there before they head back down river and back to the big blue ocean.
    Hope this report helps.

Big Deal - Only 200 Hickories, WOW.....oh my gosh.....Hey I caught a fish, look at me everyone...............................
WELL DUDE- I cut my grass, weed whacked the entire yard, cleaned up around the house, put down pine bark mulch in the flower beds and around the fruit tress and brick columns on the driveway. Pulled some big weeds that have been dying to have their root yanked, sounds funny huh? Trimmed back some overhanging limbs, etc.

And you think YOU had fun! Boy do you have a lot to learn. I bet your arms are more tired than mine and I'm sure the Hicks just "wore you out", What a problem dude.....................HA. I'm still ready to go at 55.
Boy and you think you had fun.
