Transducer compatibility

Need to get a new fish finder soon. I have a Garmin through hull but wanted to know if transducers are generic and a Garmin would work on a Humminbird and so forth.

Also any suggestions on Fishfinders around 250 to 300 dollars. I have been looking at the Humminbird 727

I fish mainly around the bay and go as far as the CLT. I have a 23ft WAC.

Some transducers are interchangeable and some may not be, many transducers are manufactured by a company called Airmar and can be used on different manufacturers units

make sure the transducer can handle the power of the new unit. Give airmar a call and see if there is an adapter.
