Arrow Friday, Wind and Drum Report

Well, I chickened out Thursday, I had taken off of work and decided not to go based on the severe storm forecast. I was kicking myself in the evening when the sun came out and the wind layed down.

I figured we would give it a try today rain or shine. Steve Kendall and my cousin in-law were the only two brave soles that were willing to go with me. It was not so bad on the way out. We headed over to 13 and set up. Tide was slack and beginning to go out around 2:00, no takers. About 4:00 we see a big nasty squall comming our way from Norfolk and figured we would just stick it out. The wind busted our anchor loose and it rained for about 10 minutes so we motored over to a new spot and re-set. As soon as the rain cleared the one fish of the day hit. It was around 50". Thanks for the net job Steve. That was our only black drum hit of the day. The wind picked up hard out of the WNW so we set up for reds, had one nice run, caught 4 or 5 sharks, but no takers there so surfed back home across the bay in some very nice swells. I will be back out there tomorrow evening.

Nice fish, as Herb Gordon says " one thing for sure you can't catch them at the dock".

Steve, I wound up staying home Saturday, my whole crew bailed and I could not find anyone else that could go. We will get them next weekend. John was a good human winshield, we may have to bring him again the next time to keep the spray down.

Have not heard of any around the islands yet, usually that is later in the season or at leasst after they clear out of 13 and 16 area.
