Default O/T PRK Last Thursay! Should have done it 10 years ago.

    OK. Its done.

THANKS to all of you how commented as to your experiences with laser eye surgery. I took all of the comments and integrated it with my Doctor's recommendation and went for it!

I actually scheduled the surgery before the initial consult because of the 30 day no dive recommendation by Dr. and DAN.

Initially he recommended standard LASIK with the flap so at the end of the consult I stated my expectations given that I fly, dive and now will be skippering my boat. He too is a pilot and changed his recommendation to PRK because of the reduced risks of the flap (coming loose or minute wrinkle etc.)

So I flew back from Pensacola Wednesday nite and had the procedure Thursday 0900. 75 seconds right eye and 65 seconds left eye.

Since PRK has all of the abrasion on the exterior of the cornia the recover time is longer and more painful and the immediate result is hazy.

I came home and slept all day thanks to pain meds. Woke up this morning at 0130 hurting like a welding burn. Hit the numbing drops and popped another pain pill then out to doctor at 0900 for followup. Everything is perfect. Vision is hazy and will most likely get hazier over the next several days while the cornia cells recover.

I have bifocls now and thought I would need cheaters........NOT i'm typing this without.

So in summary after two days on the couch or in bed I'm loving it!

Gotta trip planned for the eastern shore next week for fishing so I hope the haze is better...Oh yeah, light sensitivity is terrible now so I gotta get me a cool pair of those Costa Del Mars! (non - prescription of course.)

    Stay tuned for tomorrow's report!

It will be a few months before your eyes are completely stabilized and vision the best. I had PRK as well and it was one of the best things thats ever happened to me.

My wife had it done. She loves it.

She had a little trouble at first driving at night. Approaching car headlights gave her some trouble.

I think it just takes a while for your eyes to trick your brain into accepting the new vision.
