Yeah Al Robert and Mike both said it. Your Pop new something didn't he.![]()
While sitting around having a couple cold ones with my cousin after Saturday's fishing, we were talking about the Drum bite with relation to the time of day versus the tide. We laughed and thought of "Pop" and his "4 finger rule". He'd hold his hand up towards the sun, the bottom aligned with the horizon... waiting for the sun to align with the top of his "4 Fingers", saing, "Boys... they'll start to bite soon". Now granted, his hands were HUGE, but we still do it today... and it seems to be fairly accurate.
Anyone else use the "4 Fingers"?

I used to use 4 fingers, then I got married.
Funny you should mention it Al. A fella I was with Wed did that. I had no idea what he was talking about. However we were catchin!
That is cool, I will try it out today (if the sun is out). One of my buddies goes by the rule Red Sun=Red Drum.

All my catchin has been just before sunset to just after.
'Course, that's the only time I drum fish....
Al,
I thought you were talking about something else.back in the 70`s we could get 4 fingers for $20.00lol
I use the finger rule to see how much sunlight we will have left in the day. The gap between each finger is equal to 15 mins. Ex. 4 fingers = 45 mins.
second lynn inlet on the 15 min per finger.![]()
