Making movies and videos

I have a Sony Handycam that records movies onto a mini-DVD. I've acquired a small stack of discs and I'd like to start putting some movies together.

I'm thinking of just using the Windows movie maker software that already loaded into my computer. The software seems fairly simple to use. My main question is for anybody recording onto mini-DVD's. You can finalize a disc after you have filled it up which allows you to play back the movies in a DVD player. Is it better to finalize or not finalize the discs before you try to make and edit a custom movie?

I would say not finalize the discs and dump the raw footage into movie maker and then edit.

I'd strongly suggest saving yourself the trouble and go buy a Mac. This was advice given to me about 6 months ago. Since then, I've created six videos, each ~20-30 mins of various hunting/fishing/family adventures -- incorporating music, titles, still photos, video. The Mac will support any of the file formats and is unbelievably easy to use...and create professional-quality movies. Good luck.

If you are serious about making videos then get a Mac. The software is beyond compare.

iMovie on the Mac is all that you need. Easy and integrated with the other suites on Leopard as well as mobile me.

The Mac guys are absolutely right! I've had mine for a day and just finished putting together my first video! Macs ROCK!

Here you go, let me know what you think. Took longer to load the video ( DV tape camera) than it did to make it up. We still have to work on the camera position on the boat and setting the focus manually so it won't fuzz out so much.
