    Angry Ocean Pro Lower Unit

The lower unit for my '92 150 hp Ocean wasn't going into reverse. I dropped the lower unit and noticed that the shift lever hardly had any up-down travel. I'm surprised it went in gear at all!. Question: Is it possible that the clutch assembly is the problem OR is it more likely that I have to replace the ##$$$@@!!! lower unit? I've had lower units go before this seems different. Is there any hope for a (relatively) cheap recovery?

Does anyone know where I can get a used lower unit?

Might sound silly, but did you try rotating the prop just a bit? Your whole problem might not even be in the LU, it might be in the linkage.

Hey I think I know what your problem could be or lets hope because its cheap. Take loose the plate where your shift rod enters the lower unit and slide it up on the shift rod a few inches. Now try shifting the gears. If that works what has happened is that the plate has corroded some and is pinching the o rings (that seal the shift rod) tight against the shift rod making it hard to move. Just take it off and claen it out very good and repaint and add new o rings or just buy a new plate. I hope this works as I had the same problem.
