Default 238lb Bigeye - More Pics Added

Got a last minute call from my buddy Jim on Monday to fish on his boat (31' Performer) out of OI on Tuesday. Made it down Monday evening a got a plan to fish the water that had pushed in just North of the Point. Cleared the inlet at 6am with a crew of 4...myself, Jim, Brent and John. Lines in at 7:30 am about 6 miles North of the Point in just over 100 fathoms on a pretty nice color change and 76' water. There were a few birds pecking the water but not much other life until around 8:30 when we found a huge pod of whales and two-tones. At 9am the Shimano 50W goes OFFFFFFFFF!! and the epic battle was on. I was at the flybridge helm and decided to back down when John yelled that he was down to 1/4 spool. Finally got the fish stopped and John did a great job battling this pig for the next hour and a half. At around 10:30am we sank 3 gaffs in the fish and hauled it over the gunnel. After we regrouped the cockpit, we immediately realized that we had nowhere to put this fish. We soaked towels in ice-saltwater and covered the fish and then laid 40lb bags of ice across it's body and hauled a$$ to the dock.

Back at Pirates Cove scales the fish weighed in at 238lbs. This was a total team effort and the fishing adventure of a lifetime...I'll never forget it. By the way the fish ate a spoon pulled behind a planer.

This is the pic the guys at PC took. I've got others I will post soon.
