better leave that book behind! CLT 6/3 report

Kevin and I arrived at the tower around 10:30am June 3rd. The bite was sporadic and mostly smaller 2 to 3 lb spades for about the first 2 hours. We caught about 4 between that time and the fish seemed to biting deeper down maybe 20/25 feet.. Then at around 12:30 the bite turned on nice and the fish bite was more toward the 8/12 feet level. Overall size now was around 4/5 lb. Still not as big as last years at this time but fun to catch. The divers had been spearing a lot of 8 to 10 lb fish this past weekend....so hopefully they left a few larger ones in there for the traditional pole fishing folks...Anyway,... we caught WELL BEYOND limit (hooked up at least 12 more fish during this 45 minute time) & we keep our legal 8 There were a nice number of boats out there some hooked up and some did not. And "No" we did not have "dope" on our lines as one man jokingly asked us ...just chowder clams...I would have loved to stay around and look for big ol Bubba but had to head back and pick the kids up from the school bus. We left the tower around 1:30pm thinking we had plenty of time to get back and received a nasty wave whoppin with the 4 to 5 footers hitting showers over the bow pretty much all the way home. All that was missing was the bar of soap! Nevertheless.... a great trip and well worth it!! I have a couple of quick pictures and I hope to post them soon.
