Had a great time....
looks like we may have missed an early 7-8am tuna bite... if only someone did not oversleep
Nice 40 + YFT
We'll be out again soon
Made my first offshore trip this year and could not have asked for better weather conditions. We finally departed lynnhaven around 5 am with Southercrush (Patrick), Danny and myself onboard. We ran straight to the cigar in the thickest fog I have ever seen. We ended up trolling mostly SE of the cigar in 600 to 1000ft of water. Found a lot of grass but nothing had formed up into a weedline. We finally came into a huge pod of 2-tones and finally hooked up on a yellowfin about 40lbs. Trolled with the dolphins for another hour but could never get another hit. Called it a day around 3:30 and headed in to gentle following sea.
I did have some thing hit and take my #16 planer. This was my first attempt at using my new planer rod and bridle setup.
Also I want to Thank Dolph for buddy boating up with us. Sorry we couldn't get you over to where we hooked up. Definately next time.

That fog was pretty bad. Even with the radar to keep me from hitting big shit the pucker factor from the 4x4's and small shit was pretty high.
If we had only been out there 30 minutes earlier we may have hit a few more Tuna. I had a great time and am looking forward to getting back out there. Thanks to Scott and Patrick for showing me the ropes; looking forward to heading out with you guys again.
Danny
