    Angry dont buy this reel!!!

brought a penn 430ssg brand new and on first trip after catching
5 croakers with it i felt a pop in the reel while reeling and retrieving. inspected the reel to see that the screws were starting to come out and the gears were starting to show which left the handle useless.
im in no way a penn basher because i own a penn 460 slammer and going to purchase 2 more, but far as the penn ssg with its graphite body never!!!

Send it back to Penn and they should replace it.They had some quality control problems and received a bad batch with some of those graphite frames.

I won't buy anymore of Penn's new JUNK. Look for the old reels at yard sales and such.

I have a Spheros with the same track record. Prolly 10,000 fish on that reel.

I open it up each winter and lube it.

Ive got 4 ssg reels, and love them all one 420ssg, one 450ssg, and two 550ssg only had one problem out of all those reels with the 420ssg the bail wouldn't flip back automatically fixed it myself turned out they put a small part the trips the bail over when reel is turned was put in backwards other than that never had a problem and i am hard on my reels
