it's a piece of cake, just make sure you get a new seal to put on the oil plug.
Hi folks,
I'll be changing the oil myself in a few weeks for the 100 hour service. For those of you who have done this before, is there any secret/trick to undoing the oil bolt on the back of the cowling to drain the old oil? Any tricks to removing the oil filter if I have a small oil filter wrench? Everything I've read makes it sound too easy, so I want to make sure I'm not jumping in too deep if you know what I mean.
I've changed the water separating fuel filter before and that's no problem, neither is the lower unit gear oil....but I've not done the oil/filter change before on a 4 stroke.
Thanks in advance for the input.

I did this last year. It is very easy. A small socket extension helps to reach the drain plug. Next time I change the oil, I'm going to remove the drain plug with the engine fully tilted up--I read that the oil won't come out until the engine is tilted back down--and then attach some kind of hose to direct the oil into a container. If you remove the plug with the engine tilted down, it can make a real mess.
