    Default 6/25 Lumpy/NSSS/Wash

Sorry to be late but this isn't new news. Started at the lumpy (not early) and had great marks down around 50' along w/lotsa company out there. Std bft setup, 1 dumped down the center and the long riggers way back too. Planer rod as well. Slower speeds, 4 to 5kts and made turns when we'd see a solid mark to drop the longs. 45 min in the left long goes off and we boat a 80lber after a bit of a tussle. B/W and silver Becky squidwitch and meat.

So now it's 9:30 and we're not allowed another 1 so we pulled out and ran out to the NSSS hoping for a yft bite. Trolled around all the lumps and made it to the west wall of the Washington w/only scattered mahi bites.

Decided to stop for 1 last look on the lumpy on the ride in. Planer rod in for 15 minutes and it gets smoked. Pink/White Becky islander clone w/flash and meat. 25 minutes we get the bridle in view and the hook pulls. Crank it in and the stainless 9/0 was opened up straight. My fault for not backing off the drag once hooked up. Oh well, it woulda had to swim anyways.

Nice. At least you know you have confidence in your setup and other line connections if you can bend a hook straight.

No TT, it was a stainless Eagle claw 9/0 long shank on a 100lb leader...meant for yft stealth. I'm too fat & lazy to rerig just for these fish. Shoot I figured if a 7/0 gamacantspellit can take it why can't the 9/0. I think it was the combo of braid and too much drag as I was using a #5 sea striker and it pulls harder than the #8 high speed so I had more drag on the rod.

Bert, yes but only saw 1 along w/a cat jiggin. I didn't mark any fish on the bottom, all were 50ft and up. We were prepared to run some rods deeper if need be.
