fished last Saturday & Sunday at Swann Point. Plenty of croaker and spot. Slow in the middle of the day. Sure it picked up again in the evening but didn't
    stay that late.

yes, and there were trollers there this weekend. Check the charts for carter's lumps, always a good place to troll over.
Lots of lumps around Cobb Island. I don't usually do any trolling as long as the bottom fishing is good, and with the
prce of fuel maybe not at all.

thanks cobb, yeah i subscribe to the same practice, if the bottom fishing is good especially with those fighting croakers I am bottom fishing over trolling and burning gas.
    have a great weekend!

headed out sat early am around 6, finished up around 9:30 caught my fill, swann point was HOT!
Lot of trolling going on but i stayed with the bottom fishing, croakers and spot on light tackle, too much fun! used squid and fish bites (bloodworms) but the squid was a big hit.
the only thing I found different this outing is that they were all caught in 22 feet of water, usually I have found them in 12 to 15 feet.
If anybody did any trolling or jigging for stripers let me know how you made out.
    good fishing.

Swann Point, Md. -- fish around the yellow markers. Fishing has been good here
for at least the last 20 years. (that's how long I have fished this area)

overall view. Swann Point is across the river from Colonial Beach, Va.

I've tried to fish Swan Point a couple of times, including Carter's Lumps...I never had any luck. Maybe I was doing something wrong. I thought for sure that there would be fish off the lumps where it goes from 14 feet to 65 feet...If I were a fish, I would live there between those lumps. I've trolled there, livelined (with cut herring), and no luck. Maybe it was just a bad day...
