My name is Rob Kaufman, and I just wanted to introduce myself. I was flyfishing at IRL this past weekend, and met a very nice fellow named Chuck. He told me that he flyfishes and is part of sfaod. I was so excited to hear that there was a fly group down there. So I registered and here I am.
I am a die hard fly fisherman, and tie the majority of my own flies. Have had some luck at IRL. I stay at Rehoboth almost every weekend, but live in Delaware County, PA. Just curious if there is anyone out there nice enough to give me some pointers on better places to Flyfish other than IRL and Roosevelt Inlet.
I did visit the fishing pier in Lewes, and was floored when I saw the flats. I plan on fishing there the next time I go down there.
Once you join, you will be able to get one of our club's fishing maps showing our most often fished locations on the Delaware coast, in Sussex County that is. Probably the best way to learn the spots is to attend club meetings held the second Wednesday of each month, and "schmooze" with the other members! We are very free with information and pretty much tell everything we know. People are hesitant to share too much info on this forum since it can be viewed by anyone on the net and we don't want to "spot burn" and end up with too many people competing for the same piece of beach.
You are lucky to be able to get down to Rehoboth most weeknds, we have many beautiful places to fly fish here in Delaware. I hope we will meet at a club function or on the beach sometime.
Check out our website, send in your application and a check, and start reaping the benefits of being a member of the Saltwater Fly Anglers of Delaware! Heck, it is worth the cost just to receive the excellent newsletter!!
I believe you can fish for trout in Delaware all year except for a couple of weeks prior to the stocking in the spring. Hopefully someone more knowledgable than i will jump in here.
