Default 7/15 7/17 OC reports - biggest tuna in MD 2008

Went offshore 2 days while I was in OC last week.

Tues 7/15 Myself, My Dad, Buddy's Jon and Gordon jumped on board Press Time with Capt Luke Blume out of OC Fishing Center at 4:45 and we pushed off. Headed out to troll around the hot dog.

Hooked up at 8:30am. very nice fish as it took everyone but me to get the 152lb 68" fish in the boat. We were pumped as that was all of our biggest fish.

Soon after BAM another fish on.... Well this one was big and I was on it first. after 45 mins in the chair with the shoulder harness on i had to pass the rod. Well this happened many more times as it took just under 2 hours to get the fish to the boat. I took the last 30 mins or so on the fish and they gaffed the largest Capt luke had caught in his 15 years or so of fishing in OC. Also this is the biggest brought into Ocean City this year.

    216lbs and 76.5" long

Dad and I with the Big boy

Thurs 7/17 I headed out with a work buddy Mike and 2 of his friends on the Lisa with Capt Stu Windsor. We headed out to the Hambone where they got a 161lb and their under jigging the day before. I tried the jigging thing but my arms were still a little sore form the big tuna 2 days prior so I didnt last long as I wanted to save myself for the fight. Did not take long after we moved once to hook up and we got the nice 76 lb Tuna in 30 mins. Dropped te jigs back and within 5 mins bam #2 I was passed the rod halfway through the fight and got the 70 lb or so tuna to the side of the boat just to see him swim away after he was de-hooked. Dropped the jigs back and tuna #3 hit. He seemed much smaller and was as the 30 lb bluefin was forced next to the boat the mate threw the gaff into him just after he trows the hook from the jog and the jig smacks the mate in the face luckily not hooking him. It was the best gaff shot ever to get that unhooked tuna.

We had our over and under bluefins so went trolling for Mahi and Yellowfins. found a floating piece of cardboard and trolled by. a small bailer popped out and hit a naked hoo, and got him in. We got the spinnin rods rigged and passed by again. The mate hooked up and handed me the rod. I always wanted to get a mahi on light tackle! he was only about 26 in but it was fun on 10lb test 6.6'rod! Had another nice bull under the board that pulled off. Trolled back towards the hambone and got a nice 15lb gaffer and as we were pulling lines in a 30" YFT hit the green machine spreader bar.

Both days were just about flat out there minus the slow rollers from bertha. Here is the Blue fins from the second day and my Mahi.
