Default OB Oil change on lift?

I haven't had to change the oil on my suzuki 140 yet. I keep it on a lift in the magothy and was wondering if it is possible to do the change with it over the water like that? The trailer is kept all the way in edgewater so it is kind of a pain in the butt to trailer it if I don't have to. Can I do it from an old small jon-boat? I figure it can't be too hard to do it yourself?

If you're in MD, you are potentially looking at a big fine (~ $500) if you get caught ... and it doesn't make a difference whether or not you spill a drop.

Well that is good to know.

I guess I will put it on the trailer then. Thanks for the heads up.

Wilde One - We keep our boat on a lift and have it serviced by a mobile yamaha certified tech. He does all the service from our floating platform. THis has been our procedure for at least 5 years. Not one drop of oil in the bay - and not one complaint. Is is really illegal or is this just another case of regulators overstepping their limits of authority?

I changed the oil and lower unit oil in our Yamaha 150 while on a lift. I was standing in a kayak underneath. While I didn't spill a drop, I wouldn't do it again unless on land on a trailer. Too much stress trying to prevent spills, keep balance, etc.....

Just inside Curtis Creek by the first draw bridge. Can drop off the boat and come back and get it or wait for it while its done. Have a ramp on premises to pull out boats up to 45' in length. Also have floating docks for the customer who wants to drop off during or after hours. Might be cheaper to just put it on the trailer and have us come to your house to change the engine oil and gear case lube or you could bring it to us by trailer also. 1 week turn areound time or less!

Then you dont have to worry about getting oil in the Bay!
