spot and croaker fishing

Will be coming down to the Rapp. river in afew weeks has anyone been catching any big spot or croaker the reports seem to be alittle slow for this time of year was at whitestone about 4 weeks ago and fishing was slow there then we will be between Garretts and Whitestone thanks for any reports...........

Old bouy 9 area had been the ace up my sleeve lately though I have caught good on the oyster mounds off the redbarns and the bouy 10 area. Shrimp 'bloodworm combo has been the hot bait (if your not fishing shrimp(Walmat uncooked with shell) your fishing 1 hand tied behind your back). I've been laying off the charters here for the past 2 weeks to spend more time with Josh(my son) but when he wants to bottom fish we go out and catch great numbers of nice fish spot and croaker in the spots above. We've been concentrating our efforts the last couple of weeks on Specks, flounder and the bluefish/ Spanish bite. Josh and I will be out agian this weekend somewhere between the bay and the river and Im sure we will do some bottom fishing. Only have a hand held VHF on the MJPII but will try and raise you if we hit a hot bite. Ill be back on the regular Charter grind from the 16th on and wil be posting on how when and where we're catching on my Website as Im booked pretty tight bottom fishing until the end of September. River fishing should jump up a couple of knotchs to "KILLER Good" by End of August through September.
We've done fair speck fishing Decent Flounder fishing and Killer with the blues and spanish. As its a sin to tell anyone but your closest friends about your speck holes I will leave that one alone but the river Flounder love gulp that is jigged infront of their faces and we even caught a Keeper on a silver clark spoon and planner last Saturday fishing blues and Macs on the bar. As far as the blues and the Macs Josh and I limited on blues in less than 1.5 hours (Release at least another 20) on gold & silver spoons and mac trees saturday and did alright with the macs at 8 miles an hour(to keep the blues off). Ive got a feeling we will be out chasing both again Sat morining before coming back up the river to flounder and bottom fish.
