    Default '02 Yamaha 80 hp 4 stroke

just got my carolina skiff this year and have been using her at least one day a week, this past saturday took the kids tubing, was cleaning the boat on sunday and flushed the engine, but when i checked my oil it was above the high spot on the dipstick,
does the oil volume increase as the oil wears? I think the oil was changed just prior to my purchase (Feb '08) maybe only 20 hours on current oil
or should I do a quick oil change and refill to the correct spot?
    or
    is it no big deal?
    or
should i drain some to get to the correct level?
Thanks in advance for any info or opinions.

The "making oil" problem is not new. Change the oil and filter ASAP. The problem has been traced to a few causes, one of which is a thermostat that has too cold a setting and rings on the pistons not seated properly. You may want to post the question to Andy who is a Yamaha dealer at

From what I've read, it really isn't too serious.
