Default 9-12 and 9-13 MJP Rapp Report

September is prime spot month an though we never caught any ciatations we did put up some big numbers of very nice fish. The doubles were many and often with with one person catching 6 doubles in a row. Fridays crew caught 650 plus keeing around 500 nice fish and Saturdays crew even fishing behind them and having to put up with porpoises caught well over 350 and kept around 300 nice fish. Spot were 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound with many little croakers thrown back but a few 1/2 to 1lbers. 12 or so trout caught with 1 14" keeper and about 2 doz nice round heads. Blues were in the mix along with released rockfish. Bloodworms were the bait of choice and the Red Barns and White house produced the majority of the fish. Capt. I usually fish the Potomac, but have recently moved the boat to Grey's Pt. Last week we headed down river and fished the lower river and Bay. I would like to head up river this coming weekend and try some bottom fishing. I'm somewhat familiar with the area, but can you give me some tips on the water depth you're fishing? Your information is appreciated.

Mushy Im finding fish are always on a major current break on a hard bottom. Best depths have been 18 to 20 feet but would not hesitate to fish deeper if the current break is there. REAL bloodworms are a must (love fishbites not knocking them) for big numbers and hot action right now. I like fishing as light as I can get away with and I use whatever technique that works that day form slack lining to bottom bouncing. 99% of the time bottom bouncing is what works. Bottom bouncing tech that been working is very fast very sort hops off the bottom. Got to get the feel as like jigging fish many times hit on the fall.

Big E I was supose to get back with Greg this week but work is crazy so I'll have to get with him him next week. Charters Sat and Sunday weather permitting so I should be out there. Get my number from Greg and call me Sat night and I'll hook you up with some numbers and info. Right now best guess is 10 N Sat and 5 NE Sun by inteleicast. Friday looking like a blow out on the "Liar" Marine forcast15-20 with gust to 30 but with a 15 NNE on intelicast Im thinking the average of the two might mean for a rough ride tommorow Shellfish. I normaly look at the Lair, intelicast.com, weather.com and fishweather.com and try to make a best guess out of all of them. The hour by hour forcast a lot of time gives you windows that can be fished even on bad days.
