Mike recently i was looking for a bait runner reel aswell so i did research on the coronado and had heard good things about it im thinking about trying one out if i decide to get it i will let you know how it does...Brandon
Anyone have experience with these reels? I'm looking for something with a baitrunner feature to replace some Shimmano Baitrunner 3500's.
Thanks

Brandon,
They look great on paper, but like you I'd like to get my hands on one to try.
Good Fishin
I've got a couple of the Experior - 30 reels, but they're not "bait runner" style. They've held up okay with very little/light usage (have two on speck rods).
I've got a coronado 65 and have been pleased with it. I've caught everything from tarpon to red drum on it. Drag system is smooth and fairly powerful, mine is spooled with 50 or 60 lb power pro. I've had it for several years now and it has been 75 bucks well spent. Size wise, its about midway between a 4500 and 6500 baitrunner.
From the Boat the Okuma's are fine, from the surf, I'll stick with my Baitrunners!
Epixors are great freshwater reels, but they corrode quickly in saltwater. In the end they are no deal at all and wished I had not bought them. I was very disappointed and went with Shimano Symetres for a few more bucks.
I have about 4 of the 65 coronados, very happy with them for anything from mahi, to striper. Wouldn't hesitate to put it up against anything. Only problem I had was that we snapped the plastic handle off one with a bungy cord that was holding it in a T-top holder. Sent the reel back to Okuma - new one came back a week later.
hey mike, I have a coronado. Works great, I will bring it out this weekend.
I have tried many Okuma reels when testing the market for my "favorite" reel company and have found that the okumas did pretty well for the first few months but corrode within the second trip. I have found that the shimano Baitrunners are your best bet. Better yet if you can get your hands on one of the made in usa penn liveliners then you would never have to buy another baitrunner type reel again in your lifetime.
