I just received my check back from VMRC and a note. I quote:

"We are not issuing any 2009 gill net license now. It will probably be sometime in mid January before we start."

Is there a need for one sooner (i.e. does anybody need one on Jan. 1st?). If so let me know and I will look into it deeper. I suspect that they just don't have the forms yet.

I'd bet that folks will need them on Jan 1. That's prime time for the big cats in the James, and most of the hardcore catfishermen are out there.

Do gill net permits last a calender year or a year from when you purchase them?
