    Default Fishing in ponds

Has anyone been fishing in any of MD farm ponds? one of my favorite things to do during the winter helps cure cabin fever. I am thinking of going this weekend and was looking for a positive report.

I've been a few times in the last couple of weeks. Mostly on days that were too windy to get out on the bay. I fish Smithville lake and a few ponds around Federalsburg. I didn't have much success. Usually, the chain pickeral will tear up a mepps spinner and the bass hit my shiners pretty hard; but this year has been slow. I hope to get out more since I put the boat away, so I will post here if I do any good. Good Luck, 5th (Marty)

What part of the state are you in or what part do you want to fish?

I am in Pasadena and I will go anywhere I can in farm ponds, community lakes , and resiviours. I have a 14 ft. tracker jon boat set up for fishing for crappie. But i also enjoy catching bass, pike and perch. But those crappie are really tasty.

Wye Mills Community Lake used to hold a ton of decent Crappie, but I haven't fished there in a few years. That's less than an hour drive from Pasadena.

Centennial Lake in Columbia has been good to me too. Good Crappie, small but fun bass. I'm not sure when they re-open Centennial to boat traffic but you can fish from the banks there pretty easily. I keep an ultralight rod in my car since I work in tht area and I'll scoot in there for some lunchtime fishing on nice days.

Wye Mills still has decent crappie in it as well as some nice size yellow perch. I have also done well at Tuckahoe and unicorn. I am waiting until we get a week of warm weather before I try just so the ponds aren't Iced Over. I will post my results
