Seems everybody that works on my house, car, or boat makes more money per hour than I do. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy new than to pay $75 per hour for repair.

So our washing machine goes out. It's 10 years old so probably time for a new one. The Mrs. zones in on those new frontloaders....the ones that start at a grand and go up. What the heck do we need a front loader for at 4 times the cost of a regular machine. I tried to steer her back to the regular machines at reasonable prices but I finally caved...got a new frontloader....and of course I had to spring for a matching drying too....because you know if she ain't happy, I'm not happy.

So in this case, I could have repaired the old one much cheaper.
