Default OT- Chemical Bioreactor Technology for Vessels??

I'm in the middle of a school project for my graduate class and I'm completely lost on the product I'm supposed to market. I'm hoping someone on here might have some ideas or experience with this:

Bioreactor processing method within a tank internally chambered to sequentially perform biological treatment and membrane filtration

I have to understand the technology that is used in this. Supposedly, this technology is utilized for on-board commercial vessels to treat influent waste such as wastewater derived from various sources so as to: (a) eliminate perturbations in flow and temperature, (b) reduce biochemical oxygen demand, (c) reduce total suspended contaminating solids and (d) reduce fecal coliform concentration.

Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

I appreciate any help you can give and sorry its off topic...

Boats are required to have holding tanks for waste(sewage) and the tank needs a chemichal capable of sanatising and deodorising human waist. Same as the blue stuff in a porta potti.

I could provide a little input on bioreactors used in Landfills, but unless they are comparable to those systems used in ships (and I dont see how they are, I would imagine that one on a ship would involve more reagents, and probably an agitation blade) I doubt I can be much help... let me know if they are similar, I will be happy to help if I can
