Default Questions from a newbie on Kent Island

I've just gotten into Kayak Fishing this year, and am a Carolina Lowcountry boy living on Kent Island. So naturally, I'm more into fishing for Specs, Flounder, and Reds than I am Rockfish. I did some fishing for Specs around Janes Island in September, and had a blast. I've heard a lot about the spring Flounder fishing around Chiconteague and was wondering if anybody could fill me in on some of the logistics like best places to park & launch, and also any other spots on either the Chesapeake Bay Side or Atlantic side that are easy to access? Any places to put in that are more convenient than the boat landings? Thanks, Troy

I would suggest you run out and grab Kayak Kevin's "Fishing The Chesapeake Bay 2" DVD - it has an entire section dedicated to fishing for summer flounder in the lower Chesapeake Bay. He shows you the rods, rigs and methods for fishing for flatties and where they are located at. The places mentioned in the DVD also all have public launches.

On Kent Isl you have some really good shallow water striper fishing in your backyard along with numerous public and private launch sites so don't rule stripers out entirely. When I fish Janes Isl and other MD Eastern Shore areas for specks those pesky rockfish often take the lures intended for specks.

Also if you downsize there is outstanding white perch fishing around KI. And if you want to branch out, the crabbing is killer too!!

i fish KI and eastern bay quite a bit, usually the fishing is really good from stripers to croakers which are a blast on LT. some good launches are kent narrows, goodhands, crab alley, romancoke and on the other side of eastern bay claiborne.

Another one here. Dorchester county. Choptank and bay shores from cooks point to lower hoopers island.
Have several yaks, but personal is an old town loon. 16'. It was a tandem, but I took the front seat out, and stuck some rod holders in the back deck.
