    Question crab traps

Last year I read about using 12inch open top crab traps. Where can I get some in this size?

Do a search on topless crab traps. You will find alot of info. on that topic.

Captain Bruce sells them. They are the big foot traps. I bought couple last year and they are really nice. You can order them on his website Captain Bruce's Crabbing Supplies.

I'll second Capt. Bruce. I have 30 of his traps and love them.

I bought a bunch from Bruce just last year and they are already rusting up. I keep them in my garage out of the elements but still rusting.

I like my old foxy mate open tops better even though the bottom is 10'' by 10''.

Don't forget, the proposed reg changes have a change for rec trap size from 1 sq ft up to 20X15, so you may want to wait to buy traps if you want to run the biggest you can.

Pulling up a trap that big would feel like your pulling up a sea bass pot.

I hate to say anything negative about Capt Bruce but I have the same issue with my traps.... I bought the plastic coated ones so the doors are still in good shape but the frames are metal and rusting badly. I have a few older traps that are at least twice as old as the Capt Bruce traps and they have little or no rust on them.
