Greetings from the north. Panning to retire within the next year and we are looking at the Saint augustine area. To be honest all I want to do is Fish, play golf and drink beer.
1. How is the fishing in this area
2. I hear taxes and insurance is high.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
George
I don't live in Florida but I spent 3 months in JAX this winter and visited St Augustine several times. As you no doubt know, there is no state income tax in Florida which is a big help. As for local taxes you hopefully get what you pay for. I would check closely on insurance before making a commitment. As for fishing, it is much better in Florida than almost anywhere else. That far north you won't get any bonefish; tarpon or snook would involve considerable frustration. Think trout, redfish, and flounder. Plenty else too. I did very well this winter and without a boat. Caught nice trout right in downtown JAX. JAX was wonderful, very very nice people and great services. Have fun.
