Are there any teachers/administrators from Wicomico or Anne Arundel on here?

My son is a H.S. English teacher in Q.A. Cty., and my wife is a nurse in an A.A. H.S. What question do you have?

note the number of "former" and "now club fed" in the above posts. That may be as much a reflection of public education as a whole, but in my humble opinion Anne Arundel County has a TERRIBLE school system (this from the teacher's perspective - can't comment on administration). Pay is well below regional and national average. Pension system is laughable compared to our northern neighbors. Property cap tax in AA has kept the waterfront homeowners (mostly without school aged children) happy, but has not been good for the school system.

Well you could just come to PG county and teach here!

I remember when I was in high school one of the substitutes was relieved of his duties because he threw a metal trash can into the middle of a knock-down, drag-out brawl in the bottom level of the school. It probably wasn't the recommended way to break-up the fight, but it was effective.

    Eminent Brothers,
SWMBO taught in AA County for years specializing in inter-city kids. Now she is a school councilor at an AA County elementary school. Put 4 kids through the AA County school system and Bludworm is still in Broadneck HS. From my experience AA County schools are just fine. But AA County does have a voter imposed Tax Cap and that does impact the amount of $$$$$ that's available for everything including education.
