Unhappy Hard Lesson and Learning curve!

Saturday as I came back to the Great Bridge Locks public boat launch after taking my 14 ft er for a ride to test out a new seat, a brand new Malibu Wakeboard Boat pulled up.
It looked like he must have just picked it up that morning. The trailer did not have tags yet. Three teenagers and wife on board. After geting boat ready to launch, He back it down the ramp. Apparently he did not leave the hook on as the boat literally flew off the trailer and hit the ramp hard. He had no choice but to continue pushing the boat into the water so that he could put it back on the trailer. He messed up the prop, shaft, and tiller. Hard way to learn how to launch a boat. Bet it went back to the dealer in Great Bridge that afternoon

That's a tough one. I have a saying. The longer the time between the last stupid boating thing you did is only that much closer too the the next stupid boating thing your going to do.

I've been boating 30 years and wish I had all the stupid crap I did on film. I think we all could think of some dumb stuff we did over the years. It would make a cool "Boating- What Not To Do" thread.

Yea, like backing your boat bown the ramp, hitting the brakes after you realize you forgot to tie the line to the trailer and watching the boat go drifting away!!

    Jerry,
I like to take a deck chair to the ramp. I get to see it every day at the marina.

Like when the guy launches the boat with the wife at the helm and he yells, "Start the engine!". He screamed as she drifted away, " You have the keys, you dumb ass!".

Kinda like the guy who launched the BRAND SPANKING NEW 28 GW with twin F250s with motors all the way down off of a roller trailer...unhooked the chain and winch hook and backed down the ramp at Owls Creek...horrible crash...transom cracked, keel cracked, lowers trashed, props trashed...he sat right down and cried...I called a crane in to pick him up and back onto the trialer...pretty sure it was totaled...sad..launch follies at its worst...
