    Default Certificate of elevation

    Guys,

Can anyone recommend a surveyor/engineer who can provide a certificate of elevation for a house in Cape Charles?

This is all new to me. How much should I expect to pay?

    Thanks!

If you can get a copy of the original plat, it is often written on it.

If not look at your plat and contact the survey company that did it. They may be able to give your the certificate without having to come out and do another $ survey $.

I'm a land surveyor and do some work on the Eastern Shore, working in conjunction with another surveyor that lives over there.
    I'm assuming you're in a flood zone....
The forms require elevations, digital color pictures (to be put on the elev cert.), lat/long GPS location, etc, etc.......we charge $500 on the Peninsula......we might be able to incorporate your cert...with other work over there.....call me @ 595-4610 and I'll be able to get nearest Benchmark and get back with you on a price (if nearest Elevation Benchmark is a mile away, it's more time consuming than if it's in your front yard)
Also could look up what flood zone your in and advise from there

a flood cert and a physical survey are two differnet animals. your physical survey "plat" may have flood zone info on it but it is NOT a flood cert. and typically a surveyor will not do a flood cert unless it is requested, so contacting the original surveyor may not save you any money "it would not be free". Depending on when the survey was done and if a flood cert was done then, your insurance company, county or city government may be requesting an updated cert.. Your best bet would be to look in the yellow pages and find someone that is local.

    Guys,

Thanks for the input. House is in a flood plain, AE, I think. Right in Cape Charles.

Will check the original documents to see what is there.

I will get in contact with those who asked.

    Appreciate the information!
